The English FA will not take any formal action against Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner for their altercation.

The pair squared up to each other in the second half of Tuesday's 5-1 English League Cup semi-final second leg defeat against Tottenham.

However, the FA will write to both players to remind them of their responsibilities.

Adebayor had earlier apologised for the incident on the club's website.

Out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko says he expects to sign a deal with Juventus.

The 23-year-old Mali international said: "Now I have good contact with Juventus, so we'll see what happens in the next two days. Maybe I'm going to sign on Friday my contract with Juve."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has told Sissoko he can leave Anfield "if the right club and the right offer" comes in.

Scotland presented George Burley as their new manager yesterday and he immediately set himself the target of helping the team qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals.

Burley, who won 11 caps for Scotland and was a member of the 1982 World Cup squad in Spain, agreed a deal until 2012 after quitting Championship side Southampton.

"I have played for my country from the age of 15 all the way through to . . . the World Cup," Burley, 51, told a press conference.

"Now as manager, well, it's a great honour. I am at the stage of my career, I've been a manager for almost 16 years, and I feel I'm ready for it.

"Hopefully we can push all the way to the World Cup finals. I am saying to everyone, to the managers, to the players and fans, 'Let's go for it!'

"If I can get Scotland to qualify for the World Cup, that would be my achievement and then take it from there."

Scotland last qualified for a major tournament in 1998 when they went to the World Cup finals in France.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is poised to sign former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Milan Baros on loan from French champions Lyon.

And although the Czech Republic ace, who cannot get into the Lyon team, is unlikely to be cleared in time for tomorrow's fourth round FA Cup tie at home to Plymouth.

However, he should be available for next Wednesday's trip to Premier League leaders Manchester United.

Championship side Stoke City are hoping to lure Arsenal's Theo Walcott to the Britannia Stadium on loan.

The 18-year-old England international has been linked with a temporary move away from the Emirates Stadium having started just nine Premier League games since his big-money move from Southampton in 2006.
