OLYMPIC GAMES:MICHAEL Carruth has claimed Irish boxers will be "a failure" if they don't win a gold medal at the London Olympics.
“We need to be winning medals at the Olympic Games in boxing,” he says, “and if we don’t win an Olympic gold this year, it’s a failure.
“I know I’m putting my old buddy Billy Walsh under pressure, but we’ve shown at the Europeans and the Worlds that that we’re capable of winning medals.
“Now we need to go to the next stage. Go to the Holy Grail and produce it.
“It’s 20 years since I won at the Olympic Games. I’m privileged to be the first, I don’t want to be the last.
“That’s the God’s honest truth. We need to produce another gold medallist. Be it the male version or female version.”
