Dominating play in the main positions, Ballinderry were never extended against Tir Conaill Gaels in yesterday's All-Ireland football club championship quarter-final at Ruislip.

Missing a penalty in the fifth minute added to Tir Conaill Gaels problems, but overall the home side had no effective answer to the Derry champions, whose speed, physical fitness and ability to turn dominance into scores proved decisive.

On yesterday's performance, Ballinderry, who won their first and only All-Ireland club title in 1981, stand an excellent chance of repeating that success. Their attack, in which Conleth Gilligan and Adrian McGuckian accounted for 2-8 of the winning total, always looked dangerous when in possession, while midfielders Enda Muldoon and Sean Donnelly were never troubled by the various combinations tried against them.

BALLINDERRY: M Conlon; K McGuckian, N McCusker, J Bell; P Wilson, R McGuckian, D Crozier; S Donnelly, E Muldoon (0-1); B McCusker, C Gilligan (1-6), D Conway (0-1); D Bateson (0-1), A McGuckian (1-2), G Cassidy (0-3). Subs: J Conway for G Cassidy; D McGeehan for E Muldoon; P Crozier for D Crozier.
