Limerick IT 1-25 Kerry 3-7: The Davy Fitzgerald managed Limerick IT carried too much firepower for a largely experimental Kerry side in this Waterford Crystal Cup quarter-final played under lights on a superb Abbeydorney surface last night.

LIT did the damage in the opening quarter, when they raced 0-8 to 0-1 clear. Paudie O’Brien from Kilmallock was outstanding at midfield and finished the game with six points from play while the hard-working Colin Madden at wing forward punished every Kerry error.

Full-forward Gary Guilfoyle was deadly accurate from frees and his first-half points helped LIT lead 0-13 to 2-3 at the interval with Willie O’Dwyer ( close-in free) and Darran Dineen getting Kerry’s goals in the 30th and 34th minutes.

Kerry’s Shane Nolan fired over two quick points to close the gap to two but with O’Brien scoring points at will and Guilfoyle punishing Kerry indiscipline, LIT were soon 0-19 to 2-5 clear by the 50th minute.
