Holders Granagh-Ballingarry, from Limerick, retained the All-Ireland Club title O Cearbhaill Cup when they defeated Davitt's (Galway) at Tynagh, Co Galway yesterday. Their star player was Eileen O'Brien who notched up 1-3, her first point coming after six minutes. Davitt's, assisted by the very strong crosswind, levelled through Loudra Kavanagh.
Kavanagh added two more points before Caitriona Finnegan scored Davitt's only goal on 27 minutes.
Davitts's led at half-time by 1-2 in this first-ever All-Ireland club final played at 15-a-side level. Two goals, one each from Deirdre Sheehan and Eileen O'Brien, left Granagh-Ballingarry ahead by two points after 44 minutes.
Mary Treacy's narrow wide for Davitts with six minutes left proved a turning point, as O'Brien finished with two more points.
