Roscommon 1-17 Cavan 1-12: ROSCOMMON BOUNCED back from a terrible start at Hyde Park.
Cavan led 1-3 to 0-1 after just five minutes with midfielder David Givney powering through the defence for a goal and they were five points ahead after 23 minutes.
Roscommon were level by half-time though after points from Donie Shine, Cathal Cregg and David Keenan. Points from Givney and Smith then edged Cavan in front but O’Gara forced the ball over the line after a scramble for a vital goal. Martin Dunne responded with three points for Cavan to a lone reply from Rogers to leave the sides level again at the three-quarter stage.
Cavan then failed to score again and substitute Keith Higgins gave Roscommon the lead before adding two more while Rogers and Senan Kilbride also found the target as the home side pulled clear.
