Munster made a winning start to their two-match Scottish tour with a workmanlike performance against Edinburgh last night. The visitors trailed for most of the game but ultimately ran out worthy winners. Edinburgh led at half-time through tries form Henderson and Leighton together with a Donaldson penalty. For Munster, O'Gara landed an 11th minute penalty and Lacey scored a fine try. O'Gara narrowed the gap after 45 minutes with the second of his five successful penalties, but Hastings stretched the home side's lead when he went over for a try after 53 minutes. A fine Tuohy touchdown was converted by O'Gara to tie the scores entering the final quarter, but the visitors fell behind once more two minutes later to a Paterson try which Donaldson converted.
Munster gained their reward in the final phase when O'Gara converted three further penalties and converted Lynch's fine individual try to secure the victory.
