David O'Loughlin, who is from Cong in Co Mayo but rides in the colours of the DCM team in Belgium, had a good win in the Dun Laoghaire Grand Prix yesterday. At the end of 20 laps of the two-and-a-half mile circuit O'Loughlin out-sprinted Paul Butler. Aidan Duff was 15 seconds behind in third.
After a neutralised lap of the six-mile circuit, a group of 17 from the 85 starters forged ahead on the fifth time around. A lap later O'Loughlin, Butler and Duff formed a breakaway group of their own. On the last lap O'Loughlin attacked and only Butler could go with him as Duff was left struggling. Then O'Loughlin proved too strong on the incline to the finish on Marine Road.
