The Dublin management will give Stephen O'Shaughnessy until tonight to prove his fitness ahead of the Leinster football final on Sunday. The corner back is increasingly likely to miss the provincial decider after a recurring shoulder injury came back to haunt him against Wexford on June 19th.

"We'll let the medical staff make the call after he has a full run out at training," said selector Brian Talty.

The absence of O'Shaughnessy will force manager Paul Caffrey to reshuffle his defensive lines as current wing back Coman Goggins would be the ideal replacement with Peadar Andrews to come off the bench.

Moving Collie Moran back from wing forward is another option that would open the door for Senan Connell to start his first championship match this season.

Another expected change is for Jason Sherlock to return at the expense of corner forward Mark Vaughan. Sherlock lost out to the Kilmacud Crokes attacker against Wexford, but replaced him in the second half, scoring the goal that swung the contest back in Dublin's favour.

Dessie Farrell, Darren Magee and David Henry are all expected to be promoted to the bench, but none of the returning panellists from last year will be given a starting place. A side will be announced after tonight's training, as will an injury-free Laois selection.

The game will be televised live on RTÉ 2 at 3.45pm, and will be followed by a deferred showing of Derry versus Limerick from Castlebar.

With influential Derry midfielder Fergal Doherty out with torn ankle ligaments, Mickey Moran is hoping Enda Muldoon can shake off a hamstring complaint.

Paul Wilson and Padraig Kelly have regained full fitness and are in line for a recall when the team is named on Thursday. Limerick have no injury concerns and Liam Kearns will select tomorrow.

Regardless of how Cavan do this Sunday in Clones against Meath, manager Eamon Coleman is not expected to return to the intercounty scene this year.

Coleman is recovering from a rare strain of pneumonia and has been unable to attend any matches in the Ulster championship. Stand-in manager Martin McElkennon will announce a team tomorrow.

The county are still awaiting a reply from the CAC to their request for a hearing on the 12-week suspension handed down to Paul Brady for stamping against Tyrone in the drawn Ulster football semi-final on June 19th.

Meath are also planning without Trevor Giles for the championship as he remains on the long-term injury list with Daithí Regan, Brian O'Reilly and Shane McCague. Sligo captain Eamon O'Hara also enters this bracket with medial ligament damage.
