The Sydney 2000 Olympics will cost taxpayers 1.65 billion Australian dollars ($1.05 billion US), budget figures showed yesterday.

The cost will be spread over 10 years and assumes economic activity stimulated by the games will boost state government tax revenue by 600 million dollars.
