Chloe Magee and Scott Evans have qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio this summer.
After a few nail biting weeks the Badminton World Federation and the Olympic Sports Council of Ireland confirmed on Friday morning that both athletes have secured their Olympic Qualification places.
Evans qualified for the men’s singles in the 29th spot out of 36 places available. Magee had a tighter qualification, getting through in the 34th spot of an available 37.
She had a good result at the recent European Championships, where she made it to the last 16, which helped her secure the points necessary to qualify.
She overcame some tricky opponents, including Telma Santos of Portugal who qualified in the spot behind her.
