An incredible 54th straight Championship win earned Katie Taylor a fifth consecutive gold medal at the EU Elite Women's Championships in Hungary on Saturday.
The Bray lightweight saw off France's Estelle Mossely in the final bout in Keszthely to win a 15th gold medal, including last year's Olympics in London.
Taylor recorded an unanimous decision against Mossely, who had beaten England's Natasha Jonas on a split decision in the semi-finals, and was also awarded the boxer of the tournament award.
Leanne Murphy had to settle for silver after she lost to Turkey’s Emine Bozduman in the 81kg+ final.
Irish boxers claimed four golds in the Youth and Junior finals with Kristina O’Hara, Jacqui Lynch, Graine Gavin and Amy Broadhurst all winning their bouts. Ciara Sheedy, Niamh Ball both claimed silver medals.
It means Ireland’s female boxers will be taking home a record- breaking five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals from the 26-strong squad in Hungary.
