The 100th running of the Irish Shell-sponsored South of Ireland championship will be held at Lahinch from Saturday, July 28th, to Wednesday, August 1st. As the oldest championship on the GUI calendar and to celebrate the centenary staging of the event, Lahinch has invited all past finalists to play in a unique competition on the eve of the event, Friday, July 27th.
Up to 20 past finalists are expected to accept the invitation including Rupert Staunton (winner 1965 and 72), Noel Fogarty (1967), Padraic O'Rourke (1979, 81 and 85), Mark Gannon (1973 and 88), Michael Burns (1980), Adrian Morrow (1983 and 96), Vincent Nevin (1976 and 78), Michael Morris (1982), Johnny Foster (1998) and last year's winner Graeme McDowell.
