HOCKEY:After the second round postponements in the Irish Senior Cup a fortnight ago, the six affected teams will try again to seal their places in the last eight of the competition, Pegasus, the 2011 winners journeying south to Limerick again to face Catholic Institute.

By their own lofty standards, it’s been a mixed season so far for the Belfast side, drawing three of their six league games so far, including two of the last three, against leaders Ballymoney and third-from-bottom Randalstown.

Still, their pedigree in the ISC is unrivalled in recent years, the club winning three of the last six competitions, so Munster champions Institute will be expecting a testing afternoon.

Hermes, who last won the cup in 2006, travel north to take on Armagh, who, after losing their first four league games of the season, have picked up by winning two of the last three. Ards and Ulster Elks, level on points in the league, just two behind Ballymoney, meet at Ardmore. Ballymoney, meanwhile, come to Dublin to take on Corinthian in their third round tie.

With Railway Union’s league game against Hermes postponed, UCD can go clear at the top of the table if they get the better of Old Alexandra at Belfield, as they have done in the ISC, Jacqui Potter Cup and their previous league meeting this season.
