Cork C of I and Pembroke Wanderers, two clubs who have the greatest affinity in hockey circles, yesterday found themselves drawn together in the semi-finals of the Irish Senior Cup on March 11th. The fact that Pembroke will have home advantage makes the tie finely balanced, with the assignment in Dublin being as testing as C of I would wish to cope with, in defence of the trophy.

There will remain the possibility of an-all Cork final as Harlequins will be hosts to accomplished Lisnagarvey in the other semi-final. Meanwhile, Harlequins have the distinction of being the only club still standing in both the senior and junior all-Ireland competitions. In the Junior Cup tomorrow, the second XI welcome Glenanne II to Harlequin Park, though it will be difficult to beat the full-strength Tallaght brigade.

Bandon, too, are keeping up Cork's interest and may well survive the visit of Banbridge II. In Dublin, Three Rock Rovers II field a number of illustrious figures who should see off Raphoe II while in the only Ulster tie, Annadale II will be aware that Railway Union II edged out Lisnagarvey's representatives in the previous round.

In senior league fare, most interest in Leinster will be focused on Monkstown's bid to retain third place by beating Three Rock at Rathdown while in the Munster Premiership on Sunday, Harlequins may have slight anxiety about their trip to Limerick to face Catholic Institute, who poached a draw in Cork at the start of the campaign.

They may find that the host club, Venlo, are stronger on Saturday but a place in the semifinals should be within the Irish side's capabilities.
