HOCKEY: Pembroke will face Glenanne in the St Patrick's Day Leinster Cup final after both teams came through their semi-finals yesterday, Glenanne by a healthy 5-1 margin against Railway Union and Pembroke with a 3-2 win over Corinthians.

Corinthians's defeat was disappointing in that Miles Warren volleyed a deflected cross past goalkeeper Nigel Henderson for what would have been 3-3 with the last shot of the match. However, umpire Crozier Deane blew for dangerous play, correctly, as Warren's swipe found the net.

Over all Pembroke probably shaded it with a strong first half. Gordon Elliott opened for Pembroke for 1-0 before Simon Blake-Knox added the second for 2-0. Corinthians hit back through Dan Williams and Aaron Clauson. Finally Peter Long found space in the circle to touch in for 3-2.

Glenanne showed their pedigree as Paul Fitzpatrick nicked the first at a corner and added another from the edge of the circle for 3-0 after John Goulding got the first of his two goals. As Glenanne pressed Ralph Billings brought the score to 4-0 before Railway's Karl Kinch got one back and Goulding struck again for Glenanne's fifth.
