Pilsudski was yesterday announced as the Racegoers Club's racehorse of the year for 1997. Lord Weinstock's five-year-old, retired to stud after his victory in the Japan Cup last month, received all bar two of the votes from the Press selection panel.
And the Coral-Eclipse Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes and Dubai Champion Stakes winner also received 70 per cent of the votes cast by Racegoers Club members themselves.
The award is given to "the horse which has done most to further interest in British racing during the year" and is restricted to horses to race in Britain - ruling out Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Peintre Celebre.
Meanwhile Pilsudski's regular partner, Michael Kinane now has mounts in all three big international races to be run at Sha Tin, Hong Kong, on Sunday week.
The multiple Irish champion, having previously been booked to ride Luso (International Vase) and Wixim (International Cup), has completed the full house with Russian Revival in the International Bowl. Russian Revival is one of two John Gosden runners in the seven furlongs race.
