RACING: LIMERICK PREVIEWPAUL CARBERRY misses out on the Grade One action at Leopardstown and travels instead to Limerick for five rides that include the highly-rated Please Talk in the Grade Three feature.
Just five are declared for the three mile Dorans Pride Novice Hurdle but it looks an intriguing contest with the field representing some of the better novice form in Ireland so far this season.
My Murphy ran behind a promising sort in Dedigout on his previous start while Best Served Cold is a proven winner and Pride Of The Artic’s Gowran win was boosted earlier this week by Castle Wings.
In comparison Please Talk’s profile in pure form terms is not as impressive. His Punchestown maiden saw A Fine Young Man finish third and that one was well behind Castle Wings on Monday.
But former champion trainer Noel Meade did nothing to hide his regard for the JP McManus-owned purchase after that victory and described him in glowing terms as being very much one for the future. This race will be a very real test of where Please Talk stands in the novice pecking order but Meade’s view could be backed up.
The Carberry-Meade combination can also strike in the first of the Beginners Chases with Medical Card who ran into a couple of decent horses on his last two starts, behind Raptor at Punchestown and Four Commanders at Down Royal.
Carberry is on Definite Class in the other Beginners where Shane Rock represents Mouse Morris. Blackstairmountain was in a different class to this one at Clonmel but has hardly let the form down since.
Tobar Na Gaoise was a Leopardstown winner on the flat for Jim Bolger when carrying an 88 rating to a handicap defeat of Unaccompanied. On the strength of that he was purchased by JP McManus and made his hurdling debut at Clonmel earlier this month. The son of Whipper has ground to make up on Bat Masterson on that form behind Ut De Sivola but should be sharper for that experience.
Lastofthepilots didn’t run a bad race behind Alexander Nevsky at Fairyhouse and slight improvement on that will make him a leading player in the bumper.
