QUB 1-14 DCU 1-5: It was a first-round stroll at the Dub in Belfast for Queen's who completely dominated the action from start to finish. Indeed, the scoreline does not reflect the dominance of the home side.
The Belfast university also shot 14 wides, which shows their complete control of the proceedings as they turned in a virtuoso performance against the Dublin side.
Queen's built up a six-point lead before DCU managed their first score - a point by John Tierney.
The visitors' hopes were briefly raised when Gary Mullins snapped up a controversial goal - the ball having been earlier over the sideline, but not flagged by the official. Mullins' first shot came back off the bar, but he hit the rebound home.
At the break, Queen's led by 0-8 to 1-2 and on the resumption current All-Star Marty McGrath from Fermanagh rifled over two points in two minutes to set the winners on their way again.
DCU failed to score for 28 minutes of the half, by which time Queen's had worked up a 1-14 to 1-2 before Seanie Johnston hit three late points.
