MEN'S HOCKEY:UCD WILL have some repair work to do before meeting Railway Union tomorrow in the Leinster Senior League. The students conceded eight goals to Pembroke midweek, which keeps them in the relegation danger zone and put Pembroke into third place in the table behind YMCA and Glenanne.
While it was a difficult week for Leinster clubs last week as Ulster won four of the five Irish Senior Cup ties between the provinces, including the scalps of Glenanne and YMCA, this week could just be as tough. While there are just two matches in the Leinster Senior League with UCD in a difficult game against Railway and Fingal facing Three Rock Rovers at ALSAA, there is more cross-border action as the Irish Hockey League recommences.
The big Dublin match is Monkstown v Banbridge at Rathdown School. Fourth in the table, Monkstown were one of the success stories last week in the Senior Cup and although it took penalty strokes to see off Mossley, the Dún Laoghaire side are still in the competition. Banbridge will be a tough challenge, while Cork C of I may well feel Glenanne are vulnerable after Annadale’s raid last week.
Corinthians meet Cookstown in Whitechurch while YMCA face a difficult away match against Cork Harlequins.
