Uefa Cup:Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul will miss Tottenham's Uefa Cup group match against the Danish side Aalborg this evening, the England forward with a cold and the France Under-21 defender with a groin injury.
Tottenham are second in Group C with three points, one behind the leaders Anderlecht, and need to qualify for the knockout stage or improve their league position seriously if the manager Juande Ramos is to strengthen the squad in January.
"If we have possibilities in important competitions, we will weigh it up," Ramos said yesterday. "If that isn't the case, we are not going to spend money.
"I don't like the January transfer market because the good players are already with their teams. If a team has a good player, they are not going to give him away. In January, the only teams that sign players are the desperate teams. You've got to make your signings calmly."
