Carlow SFC Final/ Éire Óg 1-7 Palatine 0-10: Palatine were forced to a replay by challengers Éire Óg who levelled this Carlow SFC final with an injury-time pointed free by full forward Simon Rea.
In a final watched by an attendance of 3,000, Éire Óg struck for a seventh minute goal from right full forward Eric McCormack. But by half time Palatine, seeking a fifth title, had edged into a 0-5 to 1-1 lead.
Midway through the second half Éire Óg held a two-point lead (1-5 to 0-6) but they kicked four successive wides. Palatine hit back to level with a point from centre back Joe Byrne and a levelling point from free-taker Brian Kelly. Twice in the late stages Palatine went a point in front but Rea struck twice to earn Éire Óg a replay at the same venue next Sunday (3.45).
