Barry Reddan's rich vein of form continued at Laytown and Bettystown on Sunday when the Co Louth one handicapper won the senior scratch cup. Reddan was instrumental in Co Louth qualifying for the All-Ireland Senior Cup final at Royal Portrush on September 16th to 18th when leading Co Louth to a 3-2 win over host club Portmarnock in the final last weekend. And the good form continued with rounds of 68 and 72 he tied with Portmarnock's Nial Goulding who had rounds of 72 and 68 but Reddan won at the third tie hole. Robert Gannon from Balbriggan took third place from Frank Gannon (Skerries) after both tied on 143. Local, four handicapper, Pat O'Brien won the nett with 141.
Meanwhile, another local, Colm Moriarty won the Athlone senior scratch cup over his home course on Sunday. Moriarty, a member of last years Irish Youths team had five shots to spare over Kevin Sheehy after two rounds of 70.
