Waterford IT 0-11 University of Limerick 0-6A superb performance by TJ Reid sparked a well deserved win for Waterford IT against University Of Limerick in Limerick yesterday.
In front by just 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval after playing with the strong wind, Waterford seemed to have taken too few of their chances. But they resumed in great style and put over five unanswered points in 10 minutes; Ray McLoughney and Colm Gahan scoring one apiece and Reid posting a sideline, a free and a huge effort from halfway.
Adapting much better to the heavy conditions, Waterford were helped by a succession of Limerick wides.
Brian Carroll pulled a point back for Limerick after 42 minutes but they had to wait until three minutes from the end for another score, a point from a free by Brian Dowling.
It was two points each after 16 minutes but apart from being in front (0-2 to 0-1) after 10 minutes, UL never looked impressive.
