Millwall starlet Steven Reid has decided his international future lies with Ireland.
The 19-year-old midfielder informed the Irish FA of his decision over the weekend ending England's hopes of calling him up into their under-21 ranks.
Reid posted documentation supporting his bid to be called up by Mick McCarthy on Friday and expects to receive confirmation it has been accepted within the next seven days.
The youngster qualifies for the Republic because of relations on his father's side.
It brings to a close a dispute over the Kingston-born player's nationality which was highlighted following a number of eyecatching displays for Millwall.
He was being chased by England who had been alerted to him by Howard Wilkinson - but the player was always aware of his Irish roots.
Reid first made a breakthrough towards the end of last season, but he has rapidly matured to become an integral figure of Mark McGhee's outfit.
Millwall are leading Division Two and their increasingly successful season has led to a number of clubs running the rule over the teenager.
