GAELIC GAMES/Gaelic Games Championship 2007 news:The Cork and Waterford All-Ireland hurling quarter-final replay will be the main event at Croke Park next Sunday as it gets priority over the semi-final between Kilkenny and Wexford.

This decision, along with all the remaining championship fixtures, was confirmed by a meeting of the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) yesterday.

A quarter-final taking precedence over a semi-final is unusual but only 34,872 turned up for the Leinster final between Kilkenny and Wexford, while 72,432 were present for Sunday's two quarter-finals.

The replay starts at 4pm but the triple bill of matches in Croke Park begins at 12.15pm with the final of the Christy Ring Cup between Kildare and Westmeath. This is followed by Kilkenny v Wexford at 2pm.

The All-Ireland minor hurling semi-final between Dublin and Cork has been fixed for Portlaoise next Saturday evening at 7pm. It will be the only minor semi-final outside GAA headquarters in 2007. The Tipperary and Kilkenny minor match remains at Croke Park on the undercard of the August 12th All-Ireland semi-final (Limerick v Cork/Waterford), which is preceded by the All-Ireland football quarter-final between Kerry and Monaghan.

A third game has been squeezed into GAA headquarters before the Dublin footballers' quarter-final against Derry on Saturday, August 11th. The Cork and Derry minors play a quarter-final at 11.30am with the Nicky Rackard Cup final between Roscommon and Armagh at 1.15pm. The main event starts at 3pm.

Tickets for the Dublin-Derry match go on sale at 10am this morning on the GAA website, Ticketmaster and from the GAA ticket office at 01-8658657.

Next Saturday's two football quarter-finals at Croke Park remain unchanged with the Tommy Murphy Cup final between Wicklow and Antrim starting the day off at 12.15pm.

Wicklow had their request to change the fixture to another date refused by the CCCC. Manager Mick O'Dwyer heavily criticised the throw-in time.

"To fix a game for that time is unbelievable," said O'Dwyer. "You'll have no atmosphere at this game at 12.15pm in the morning. They just want to get it out of the way. It is a bit of a nuisance to them. That's it.

"When they were about it they should have taken us up to Croke Park at 8am if they just wanted to get us out of the way."

All told, the stadium will host an unprecedented 16 championship matches in the month of August, concluding with the All-Ireland senior and minor football semi-finals on August 19th and 26th.
