RACING:VETERAN DUBLIN trainer Peter Casey was enjoying the full impact of Flemenstar's Arkle triumph yesterday but he is in no hurry to firm up plans for his star performer.
Flemenstar hammered his Grade One opposition to the tune of 19 lengths on Sunday and some of his trainer’s colourful post-race comments kept his name in the media limelight yesterday.
However, through it all, Casey has maintained a firm line about Cheltenham not being on the agenda for the novice performer this year.
“It was great to win a Grade One by 19 lengths. I didn’t expect him to win by that far but this is a real horse.
“We will have a look at Fairyhouse [Powers Gold Cup], but we’ll not be going to England this year. We might go to Fairyhouse, but we’ll see,” Casey said.
“If things go well, we’ll go to England next year, probably for one prep race or something before Cheltenham, just to get a little bit of experience,” he added.
