SOCCER:Liverpool's manager Brendan Rodgers has warned his side of the threat of Young Boys ahead of their Group A match at Anfield tonight.
Liverpool beat the Swiss club 5-3 in the opening game but Young Boys have since resurrected their campaign with back-to-back wins over Udinese.
Rodgers, who may allow youngsters Jon Flanagan and Danny Wilson to go on loan today, said: “They have got a threat and can score goals. They commit a lot of players forward and if you look at the way they play there are sometimes six players in the box. It leaves them a wee bit open going the other way.”
Rodgers plans to make some changes but with qualification a possibility he will try to retain some strength. The side will not be a second string like the team which lost to Anzhi in Moscow a fortnight ago, which means Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez could feature for some part.
Midfielder Lucas Leiva is still not fully fit from a thigh injury which has sidelined him since August and will play for the under-21s on Friday as part of his comeback.
Veteran Young Boys defender Mario Raimondi is suspended but England-born defender Scott Sutter, who played youth team football for Millwall, Aston Villa and Charlton before moving to his father’s homeland, is expected to feature.
