SHAMROCK ROVERS stand to emerge from their Europa League adventure with a profit of up to €1 million although club officials reckon it will be a few weeks before they know the exact figure.
The club made about €550,000 in qualifying for the group stages and have picked up a guaranteed €1 million for participating in them. Unless they get a result against Tottenham this evening, though, they will miss out on any of the performance-related prize money on offer - €140,000 for a win and half that for a draw.
Gate receipts for the three home games in Tallaght are expected to come in at around €450,000 and there will be a bonus from the competition’s TV pool which should be in the region of €100,000.
Amongst the major outgoings are around €200,000 for the temporary seats at Tallaght Stadium, in the region of €250,000 for the squad’s travel to its three away games, roughly €200,000 in wages for players and “substantial” but undisclosed bonus payments to manager Michael O’Neill and his players.
