Shamrock Rovers 5 Wexford Youths 1SHAMROCK ROVERS brushed aside Wexford Youths at Tallaght Stadium last night to book their place in the fourth round.
Dessie Baker opened the scoring on three minutes with a neat close-range header past Youths goalkeeper Packie Holden.Wexford were level on 13 minutes thanks to a superb lob by Gary Sheahan from 20 yards.
Rovers were back in front on the half hour when Gary Twigg met Danny Murphy’s ball from the left and headed past Holden.
Rovers increased their lead on 50 minutes when the Wexford defence failed to clear a Baker cross and James Chambers pounced to stroke the ball home. Chris Turner on 70 minutes and Chambers again, two minutes later completed the scoring
