Shamrock Rovers 0 Finn Harps 2:STRUGGLING Finn Harps pulled off arguably the shock of the season when defeating Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park last night. Harps struck twice through Aaron Labonte and Conor Gethins in the second half to stun the home fans.
Rovers were the dominant side before the interval and Harps' goalkeeper James Gallagher diverted the ball out of Pádraig Amond's path early on after Tadhg Purcell produced a dangerous low cross.
Chris Breen went close for the visitors midway through the half but Rovers finished strongly and Gallagher spread himself well to deny Amond on 43 minutes, Darren Stapleton firing the rebound into the side-netting.
Harps hit the front after 50 minutes when goalkeeper Barry Murphy fumbled and Gethins was able to square the ball to Labonte, who fired into an empty net.
Harps' Mark Brolly saw a shot cleared off the line and Gethins fired a penalty against the crossbar after 85 minutes but Gethins sealed the victory in injury time when he scored from halfway after Rovers goalkeeper Murphy was caught pushing forward.
