The weekend's matches previewed
Saturday
Pool One
Montauban v Sale
Sapiac, 6pm
The French side have not won a match and have conceded 79 points. Sale have won all three and top Pool One. While French clubs don't like to let themselves down in front of their home support, if Sale let this one slip, it could scupper their hopes of winning the pool. The visitors to win.
Pool Three
Treviso v Ospreys
Communale, 1.35pm
So why do clubs want the Italian sides in their pool? Well because Treviso have conceded 155 points in three games. After Ospreys visit today you can bang that figure up to over 200 points. Ospreys won by 60 in Wales. It may not be that much today but it's certainly a five-point haul for the Welsh side.
Pool Four
Harlequins v Stade Francais
The Stoop, 5.30pm
On TV: Sky Sports 2
Harlequins turned the French over in their back yard last week to propel themselves to the top of the table. It would be ironic if the English side were to undo all of that work and concede the return match at home.
Harlequins see this as a pool-winning fixture and expect all guns blazing over The Stoop.
Pool Five
Dragons v Toulouse
Rodney Parade, 2.30pm
Last week at home Toulouse won by 19 points to solidify their place at the top of the pool. They must win this meeting because they know that early next year they have an away match with second-placed Bath. They cannot go to The Rec chasing the pool and know that Dragons have won just once, against Glasgow in the first match.
Pool Six
Biarritz v Cardiff
Aguilera, 1.35pm
On TV: Sky Sports 2
Biarritz have lost some of their sparkle and languish in third place.
Gloucester beat them in Kingsholm and then Cardiff beat them last week in a tetchy meeting at the Arms Park. Expect a few old scores to be settled this week as Biarritz look for a win that would prevent their goose from being cooked.
Sunday
Pool Two
Wasps v Edinburgh
Adams Park, 1pm
On TV: Sky Sports 2
Wasps will know what happened between Leinster and Castres last night in the south of France and will be motivated about what they must do against Edinburgh. Irish clubs have professed that Edinburgh under Andy Robinson are a difficult side. Wasps will be wary but have high ambitions.
Pool Three
Perpignan v Leicester
Stade Aime-Giral, 3pm
On TV: Sky Sports 2
When the French side travelled to Welford Road they left defeated 37-28.
While they are out of contention, the French Championship resumes shortly and they will want to fire for that. Leicester travel as favourites but few would be surprised if they were turned over and Ospreys moved to the top.
Pool Five
Glasgow v Bath
Firhill, 2pm
Bath are neatly tucked in behind Toulouse and will know how the French did against Dragons before they step on the pitch. To fall to bottom-placed Glasgow would derail their Heineken Cup bid. A win today and a win against Dragons next up would nicely set up their home meeting with Toulouse in January.
Pool Six
Gloucester v Calvisano
Kingsholm, 3pm
Gloucester must see match this as a try-fest. With 137 points conceded in their three previous pool matches, Calvisano are the whipping boys of this group with no points on the board. Gloucester have to target five points here to keep alive their hopes of topping the pool and getting a home quarter-final.
