Australia flyhalf Stephen Larkham has signed a one-year contract extension with the Wallabies and ACT Brumbies to take him through to the 2007 World Cup.
The 31-year-old played a key role in helping Australia reach the 1999 and 2003 World Cup finals.
"The World Cup is the pinnacle event in rugby and it's every test player's dream to win the World Cup," Larkham told a news conference.
"I was fortunate enough to do that with the Wallabies in 1999 and then to compete in the final in 2003. There was an empty feeling in the team in 2003 after we lost the final and I'm looking forward to helping the Wallabies win back the World Cup."
New Australia coach John Connolly paid tribute to Larkham's abilities.
"Stephen is a world-class player and has made a fantastic contribution to Australian rugby. He will play an important role leading up to and during the 2007 Rugby World Cup," Connolly said.
Larkham has played over 100 games for the Brumbies since making his debut in 1996, one of only three players to reach that milestone in Super rugby.
