The Hopefuls at Goffs sales may be banking on potential but today's meeting at Fairyhouse caters for the hardy durables that keep racing's show on the road.
One horse who put in a more than durable show last Saturday at the Curragh was Rush Brook, who absolutely annihilated his opposition in an apprentice race to beat Three Musketeers by 11 lengths.
It was an apprentice race, like today's, but the clear impression was that Rush Brook had improved significantly from a previous Curragh win over seven furlongs, with Final Reminder in second.
Rush Brook is hiked up another furlong today, which should not be a problem, and in his current form he looks well capable of repeating his form over Final Reminder, who was second over 10 furlongs to Nordic Isle at Down Royal last weekend.
Vivian Kennedy's Landing Craft, is weighted to beat Three Musketeers in the Clonalvey Handicap on their running behind Rush Brook in the seven-furlong Curragh contest last month and is the selection.
Shean Town was an impressive bumper winner at the Listowel festival but should still improve significantly for the run. Jessica Harrington's horse will have been well schooled for the Rossmore Maiden Hurdle and is selected before Donadino and Rathbawn Prince; while those chasing part of the £3,877 Jackpot carryover can score with Miss Emer in the Birch Maiden Hurdle.
