International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Juan Antonio Samaranch is prepared to address a commission of the American Congress in December at a date yet to be fixed.
Samaranch, speaking at the IOC executive committee meeting in Athens, has been invited to go before the congressional body which is investigating the corruption scandal surrounding the allocation of Atlanta as host city for the 1996 summer games.
Samaranch said: "I accept the invitation (to go before congress) but it is impossible for me to go there on October 14th as I have been asked to do. The executive commission of the IOC has advised me to go after December 12th when the extraordinary session of the IOC will have adopted the promised reforms after the crisis of the last few months."
