Seb Sanders leads Jamie Spencer by just one winner as the jockeys' title race reaches its thrilling conclusion at Doncaster today.
The pair have been engaged in an enthralling battle for the championship but Sanders just edges it going into the final day of the Flat season after riding two winners yesterday.
Sanders stole the advantage when he partnered Alma Mater to victory at Musselburgh's afternoon meeting while Spencer drew a blank from his rides at the Scottish venue.
The latter soon hit back though, levelling the scores when steering Mafioso to victory in the Hotel & Conferencing At Wolverhampton Racecourse Maiden Stakes.
However, Sanders was not to be outdone and continuing the seesaw nature of the title race, he once again took the initiative with a win aboard Northern Boy in the Horizons Restaurant Overlooks The Track Handicap.
Despite taking a single-winner advantage into today's action, Sanders is far from certain of holding onto his narrow lead.
"At this time of year, you can't predict anything. You don't know which way this is going to go because there have been so many twists and turns throughout the season," he said. "I'm just hopeful really. In a way, I can't wait to get to tomorrow afternoon and sort of get it all over and done with. I've got great people backing me up and great support. They have kept my chin up when I've been down and it's been a brilliant season.
"It's going to be decided tomorrow. If either one of us rode a winner tomorrow, I think that would be good enough. It's tight."
Spencer, who claimed the championship in 2005, is also eager to see the end of his lengthy campaign. He said: "I'll be pleased when it's all over. I'm a bit tired of it now, to be honest. It's been a demanding schedule, mainly since the end of August.
"The last two months it's been every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night all-weather racing - it gets a bit mundane after a while. I'll be glad when it's all over."
The competition will go right down to the wire with both riders in action on Town Moor, though Spencer has seven booked rides while Sanders has just five.
Spencer partners leading fancy Pippa Greene in the feature totesport.com November Handicap while Sanders rates Borderlescott in the totetentofollow.co.uk Wentworth Stakes as his main hope.
