Inspired by two solo thrusts by Paddy Good, Sandford Park beat Wesley College 3-2 in the Leinster Schools' Senior League play-off at Whitechurch Park yesterday.
Wesley twice took the lead through John Blakeney and David Roche, but Simon Blake-Knox replied to leave it 2-1 at the interval.
In the second half, Good surged from midfield to equalise and then a short corner led to a penalty stroke which Gary Ryan netted for the winner.
This was much consolation for Sandford after losing the cup final to Kilkenny.
