La Liga:Substitute Javier Saviola scored a late equaliser for champions Real Madrid as they could only draw 1-1 at promoted Valladolid in the Primera Liga last night. Bernd Schuster's side were out-fought for most of the game by their hosts.
Pedro Lopez' 25-metre thunderbolt set Valladolid on course for victory midway through the second half, before Saviola levelled four minutes from time.
Real, who lost their 100 percent record, stay top with 10 points, one ahead of Villarreal and Valencia who both won. Valencia overcame Real Betis 2-1 away to earn their fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
Portugal full back Miguel set them on their way with a great individual effort and winger Joaquin sealed the win against his former club in the closing stages. Brazilian Rafael Sobis pulled one back for Betis at the end.
Former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi grabbed a late home win for Villarreal against Real Murcia with a cool finish in a one-on-one in the 85th minute. He poached a second at the end, tucking away Matias Fernandez' pull back.
Atletico Madrid recorded a 4-0 home victory against Racing Santander yesterday. Midfielder Raul Garcia fired Atletico ahead from the edge of the area in the 12th minute, and Racing lost midfielder Jordi Lopez to a red card in the 65th.
Sergio Aguero scored with a header from a free-kick in the 70th, and turned provider for Diego Forlan to score in the 77th. Portugal's Simao Sabrosa slotted home the fourth.
In Saturday's big game, the visit of Sevilla to Barcelona, Lionel Messi broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with an acrobatic volley.
Seven minutes later substitute Giovani dos Santos was wrestled to the ground for a penalty and Messi slotted home the spot kick.
Frederic Kanoute pulled one back for Sevilla in the last minute.
