Racing/Hamilton Report: Kieren Fallon had mixed fortunes on his two-day trip to Scotland but he treated the crowd to two contrasting winning rides on the Rae Guest-trained Sir Desmond and George Moore's La Sylphide at Hamilton yesterday.

Sir Desmond matched Fallon's courage and determination to dash through a narrow gap on the rails to get the better of Polar Impact 75 yards out and go on and score by half a length in the Tote Exacta Stakes.

As he returned to the weighing-room, Fallon joked: "I thought Fergal (Lynch who rode Polar Impact) was my friend, but he wasn't for letting me through.

"I got checked in my run and it is always difficult to get back up here up the hill when you have been stopped, but in all fairness to the little horse he fought back well to get there - it would have been a bad ride if I had been beaten."

But La Sylphide made all the running to score in convincing style in the Tote Bookmakers Series Handicap and Fallon said: "She is a very nice filly, she gave me a great feel."

George Duffield is in top form and followed up a near 186-1 treble on Monday when giving the improving No Refuge a fine ride to see off the sustained challenge from Otototm by two lengths in the George Wimpey Handicap.
