These are difficult times for Rovers with the priority at the club being the forthcoming relocation and the establishment of firm new roots in Tallaght. Arriving there with a team incapable of winning anything seems risky, however, and it is hard to see the current squad rising above last season's mid-table finish.

Pat Scully's arrival will bolster the occasionally shaky central defence but Brian Byrne is a loss although there is hardly a lack of attacking options. Most telling, though, will be good and injury free seasons from the likes of Marc Kenny, Tony Cousins and Tony O'Dowd.
