LIONS LOCK Simon Shaw has received a two-week ban after being cited for dangerous play during Saturday’s third Test victory over South Africa in Johannesburg.
England forward Shaw was found guilty of striking Springboks scrumhalf Fourie du Preez with his knee just before half-time.
Shaw received a yellow card for the offence, but he was then summoned to appear at a disciplinary hearing yesterday. Shaw’s ban will start in August which means he is set to miss the opening games of the new English Premiership season.
Meanwhile, the International Rugby Board are investigating South Africa’s protest against the suspension of Bakkies Botha during the third Test.
