Tipperary SHC/ Thurles Sarsfields 1-20 Toomevara 1-16: In a major shock on Saturday, Tipperary and Munster senior hurling champions Toomevara were dumped out of the county championship by Thurles Sarsfields in a thrilling quarter-final at Semple Stadium.
Toome got off to a great start with a Willie Ryan goal after 20 seconds, but Sarsfields kept their cool to trail at the interval 0-9 to 1-9. In an incident-packed second half, Toomevara had John O'Brien red-carded in the 12th minute before Redser O'Grady netted to put Sarsfields ahead. In a nail-biting finish Sarsfields held on, with Toomevara reduced to 13 men when Terry Dunne was sent off in injury time.
In the other two quarter-finals, Loughmore defeated Killenaule 4-13 to 1-18 and Éire Óg, Nenagh beat Cappawhite 4-16 to 2-11.
