The seventh running of the Patrick O'Connor Golf Day for Concern proved another huge success at St Helen's Bay recently with victory going to Hugh O'Flaherty and his team of Nigel Dunne, Michael Cronin and Mark Dwyer with an excellent score of 54.2. They had just two shots to spare over Val Stone's team of Niall Fortune, Eric Stewart and Don Arthur in second place with 56.2.
The winning team were close college friends of Patrick O'Connor in whose memory the event is held. And after all the excitement of the day's golf a cheque for £25,459 was presented to Fr Jack Finucane of Concern. This brings the total raised by the event in seven years to £143,113.
