Singspiel can battle his way to victory in today's £250,000-added Juddmonte International Stakes at York. Henry Cecil's Bosra Sham will be a popular order to recoup losses sustained when she finished a disappointing third to Pilsudski in last month's Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
That run, in which she was held up off a slow pace and then hemmed in on the rails at a crucial stages, caused a huge fuss which resulted in Kieren Fallon being relieved of the ride in the future.
Pat Eddery takes over on what is undoubtedly a high-class filly - impressive winner of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and last year capturing the English 1,000 Guineas and Dubai Champion Stakes.
But she has not had the ideal preparation for this - suffering a bruised foot last week - and today's opposition is no pushover.
Singspiel will be a particularly tough nut to crack. Michael Stoute's five-year-old has made dramatic strides since the start of last season, winning the Canadian International, Japan Cup, Dubai World Cup and Coronation Cup.
Though not discredited on his latest start when just under five lengths fourth to Swain in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, Singspiel was almost certainly hindered by the heavy rain which changed the ground to soft at the 11th hour.
He will be much happier today over 10 furlongs on good ground.
Best bet of the day is Celeric in the £40,000-added Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Stakes. David Morley's gelding graduated to Group level in this race last year, smoothly beating Always Aloof two by lengths.
And he moved to the top of the stayers' tree in June when gamely beating Classic Cliche by three-quarters of a length in the Gold Cup.
He faced a stiff task when fifth to Shantou in the Princess Of Wales's Stakes over a mile and a half at Newmarket last time but now reverts to his optimum trip. Celeric has a Group One penalty but possesses the class to overcome it.
Ginger McCain is normally associated with the jumping game and bought Zuhair with the intention of sending him hurdling. But the trainer soon discovered speed is the gelding's forte, as shown when one and three quarter lengths third to Faraway Lass over course and distance last month.
A fine second to Norwegian Blue at Leopardstown on his latest start, the front-running Zuhair should be thereabouts in the £17,500-added Eagle Lane Handicap.
Silver Patriarch will be a warm order for the £70,000added Great Voltigeur Stakes. But John Dunlop's colt has been off the course since well beaten in the Irish Derby in June and Stowaway, impressive winner of the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, should be good value to beat him.
