This went along expected lines as Skerries Community College brushed aside the limited efforts of St Conleth's in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup Section A quarter-final at Lakelands Park yesterday.

It took just eight minutes for Skerries to make their first serious move when out-half Paul Sherlock got in for the first of his two tries after good approach play by his pack. He missed the conversion and also did with the second try, which came in the 14th minute from Ray Otto.

After that, full-back Gary Levins took over the kicking duties. But he didn't fare much better and had to wait until the 42nd minute to kick the only conversion of the side's seven tries.

The powerful Sherlock made it 15-0 at half-time with his second try and Skerries just kept coming forward in the second half. Martin Dunne, Levins, Conor Sheils and Otto got the remaining tries as St Conleth's tried to stick to their task.

It was no fault of theirs that they came up against such a cohesive unit. Even so, number eight, Paul Ainscough, out-half Vincent Gough, centre James O'Brien and flanker Joseph Doyle all made healthy contributions.
