SOCCER:HAVING GONE to the top of the table last weekend with an 8-0 win over a troubled Galway United, Sligo Rovers will look to maintain their challenge for the title tonight at the Showgrounds by taking another three points from what they will hope might be a rather tired St Patrick's Athletic.

Paul Cook has a full squad to choose from as he looks to his in-form side to complete their preparations for next week’s Europa League trip to the Ukraine with what would be a fifth straight league win.

Pete Mahon says he will make changes for the game in an attempt to keep as many players as possible fresh for their game next Thursday in Lviv but Stephen Bradley and Daryl Kavanagh seem likely to start again after picking up bookings in the win over Shakhtar Karagandy that will keep them out of the first leg of the Karpaty tie.

“I think what should have happened is that the FAI should have made a rule at the start of the season that clubs participating in Europe could have their game called off,” says Mahon.

But, he added, “it’s a very, very important game for us in the context of the league which we can’t lose sight of because it’s going to be still there for us when Europe is over.”
