Chelsea are expected to increase their offer for Sevilla wing-back Daniel Alves after the Spanish club rejected an initial £21.5million bid.

The player's agent remains confident the two clubs will soon reach an agreement, paving the way for Alves to move to Stamford Bridge.

Negotiations between all parties remain ongoing but Chelsea are determined to land the player, who has already made it clear he wishes to move to west London.

Agent Geronimo Suarez is not worried by latest hold-up and believes the transfer will go through.

He said: "We are expecting a solution between the clubs and are confident they are going to reach a deal.

"Sevilla have good reasons to maintain a hard position for the player because he is a star for them and they want him to stay there. Of course Chelsea want him, so both clubs at this moment need more time.

"It is not in my hands, it is in the hands of the directors of Chelsea and Sevilla, but we can hope the solution will arrive as soon as possible.

"He is determined to go there. He wants to close the deal as soon as possible."
