Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim has insisted Mark Hughes will remain as Manchester City manager and will be the one who chooses which players the club sign.

City announced on Monday that a takeover deal had been agreed with the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG).

The new investors then helped to finance the signing of Robinho from Real Madrid for a British-record fee of €40million.

New owner Al-Fahim was delighted to clinch a deal for Robinho and is now looking ahead to the January transfer window.

But he has stressed there will be no changes in the next few months with Hughes' job safe.

"The coach Mark Hughes will stay, the chairman will stay and the technical staff will stay as it is," said Al-Fahim.

"We started negotiating to buy some more players but the transfer window was our last chance to sign Robinho and we were able to obtain him and we were lucky to be able to do that."

Al-Fahim has already hinted he could make an offer of €166million for Cristiano Ronaldo while Cesc Fabregas and Fernado Torres are other reported targets.

Al-Fahim is keen to turn City into the leading club in the world but he maintains he will listen to Hughes before making any more signings.

He said: "The opportunity to buy players for the club is now closed but there will be other chances in the second part of the season.

"The coach will choose the players and we as investors will assess his choices, their abilities and their financial costs."
