Finland 4 Republic of Ireland 1

The Republic of Ireland women’s hopes of qualifying for the European Championship qualification hit a stumbling block as they succumbed to a 4-1 away defeat to Finland.

The hosts took the lead through midfielder Emmi Alanen on 32 minutes before Jenny Danielsson doubled their lead just before the break.

Finland made it 3-0 in the 70th minute with Natalia Kuikka scoring before the visitors pulled one back through substitute Stephanie Roche. A late Linda Sallstrom goal, though, capped off a convincing win.
