Pete Mahon has turned down an opportunity to manage league champions Shelbourne and will continue as UCD boss next season.
The Dubliner was approached during the week by Shelbourne officials keen to fill the job left vacant following Pat Fenlon's move to Derry City.
But following talks with the UCD board, Mahon has decided to remain at Belfield Park instead of a move across the city to a club with well documented financial problems.
"I met the UCD committee members last Thursday to discuss why I was considering the Shelbourne opportunity and they shared their plans for the future with me. The meeting convinced me to stay at the club," Mahon said.
"UCD Soccer are about to embark on something very special. It's a new and exciting initiative which I think will result in UCD becoming a much more competitive participant in the Premier League as well as becoming a leader in the development and education of younger players."
